My purity ring was perfectly fine until Nate ‘King’ Compton showed up.
The star recruit of the Panthers, inked up and out of control—He’s the campus troublemaker I know I should avoid, but I can’t. Problem is, I’ve been given the ‘privilege’ of improving his GPA… provided I can find a brain in all that muscle.
I don’t do bad boys. I do order and control, and he’s chaos. He’s the antithesis of my perfect princess world in every way. Still, there’s something deeper under those Caribbean eyes and cut body, a darkness we both share. I’m going to get to the bottom of it if it kills me, and given the way my heart hammers out of my chest every time he’s around, it just might.
Game on.
Slammed is a complete, standalone novel with a happy ending and no cheating.

This book slammed me with juicy goodness!
By ahhmericanwoman
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book almost all the way through until the end. The story pulled me in quickly and I had a hard time putting it down, and I really felt the chemistry between Lucy and Nate.
Lucy is the perfect “Disney Princess”. She's the daughter of the dean (who is a former preacher), gets good grades, doesn't swear, and wears a purity ring. Nate is the troublemaker on the basketball team. He's a ball hogger and not much of a team player. Unlike the other guys, he doesn't have the clean-cut, all-American looks. He's covered with tattoos and has longer hair with a piece that tends to fall in his face. He's magnificent with a basketball but has a wild reputation and is from the wrong side of the tracks, only there at college because of a scholarship for his skills. But to keep it he has to get his grades up, and daddy-dean thinks his perfect daughter Lucy is the one who can best tutor him.
Lucy is drawn to Nate almost immediately. While studying, Lucy discovers that they are not so different after all. They discover they are both products of the foster care system. Lucy was lucky enough to have been adopted out at a young age, but Nate got stuck staying with a terrible man who beat and berated him. Things were so volatile that Nate eventually was put in juvenile detention. But underneath it all, he's a nice person, just someone who never really got any breaks in life.
When Lucy finally sheds her purity ring, things are amazingly intense. And in a very short time, good girl Lucy turns into a sex minx. It's really a big change for her. Her devotion to Nate is intense, and vice-versa. Lucy and Nate are so drawn to each other, it's almost like fate is pulling them together. Maybe it's not just a coincidence.
This wasn't just your every day romance. There was so much pain that Nate had been put through as a child, and his protective instincts toward Lucy are so strong you can't help but wonder.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was that I felt it ended too abruptly. The story was really interesting as Nate and Lucy got to know each other better are people, not just lovers. There are some twists and turns in the story as their relationship grows. And then all of a sudden there's an epilogue and it's three and a half years in the future. College is over and they're having their HEA. You can't help but be happy for them that everything worked out so well, but I would have liked to know more about the transition. It was just too big of a jump for me. It left me wanting more.
Overall, though, I thought this was one of Teagan Kade's best. I know I was seated in the cheering section and playing cheerleader for these two!

Overall, really good book.
By One devoted reader
I really liked the premise of the book. It was nice that it was a basketball player instead of the usual football/baseball books I'm used to finding.
There were some spelling/grammatical errors, but nothing that took too much away from the story and nothing that shouldn't be fixed since I've read it. I received this book in exchange for an honest review, so that's what I'll give you.
The only problem that I had with the book was that the heroine seemed to switch from being down to earth understanding to totally clueless. She was in a foster home but got out when she was 5, so some of her naivety is understandable. Here are some examples that didn't mesh for me. One, she didn't know to be leery about accepting drinks at a frat party and wound up drugged. Lucky for her the H was watching out for her, yet she didn't bother to thank him. Two, the H grew up through foster care and then in a very poor part of town yet she talks about how he should have stories like "my grandfather used to take me here growing up and that's how I found it". She realizes she's stupid for that one, but still. Also, she's shocked when he takes her to the ghetto when she knew that's how he grew up.
Plus, I don't care how mad you get at your parent I can't ever imagine anyone that grew up sheltered screaming about having dirty sex to them. I don't see it. Overall the plot was great and different. I liked the characters. When the H screwed up he immediately realized it and went to fix it. It wasn't a long drawn out fight or anything. And of course it had a HEA which was awesome. There were some difficulties understanding timing, but probably just me. Like they said it had been 2 years later yet they've both finished their degrees even though she was going to be a lawyer.
I liked it and hopefully you will too. It was a nice change of pace for me.

Bad boy basketballer has it out for the good girl
By Kuuipo125
Lucy is a college girl looking to make a difference in the world. Even though she's the dean's daughter, she's not a party girl. She feels like she's a wallflower compared to her roommate with the wild hair and even wilder outfits. One night at a basketball game she catches the eye of the new star player everyone is talking about--Nate "The King" Compton. Compared to all the rich, preppy boys around her, he's the total opposite in a to-die-for package. Not only is he a great ball player, but he oozes sex appeal with his bad boy attitude. He is everything she should avoid in order to achieve her goal of entering law school with her dignity and virginity in tact.
Nate has never been one for being a part of the crowd. He grew up on the streets and that is where he learned not only how to play ball but how to survive. Women fall all over him and he's more than happy to spend time with them. All of that comes to a stop when Lucy catches his eye. As the dean decides to force the two of them together, (she is now his tutor in order for him to be able to keep his scholarship) he cannot stop thinking of Lucy and wanting her in every way possible.
The heat between these two is intense! When something from the past comes to light, it has the ability to either bring them together or tear their world apart. Each must decide if it is worth fighting for. Great read from this author and I look forward to reading more!!
