New Edition Necessary

I am sorry to say that I am disappointed in this book. While other editions may have been better, this one is riddled with typos, grammatical errors, and disorganized chapters while fail to focus on the nutrition and feeding aspect of their sections.

Appendix version

All I can say is be careful when purchasing this book. My sister ordered this book and when the package arrived, it was the appendix version (gray cover) - Not the blue cover version of the book. So I ordered the book also to see if I would get the actual blue version of the book, and I got the appendix version too. So it ended up costing us money because we had to return it, and amazon doesn't have a selection for "not the book ordered"

This is one of those textbooks that you'll keep long after the class is over - I was skeptical when I opened the book for the first time and realized that it was much more of a resource text than a traditional textbook, there are no pictures and the text is supplemented only with scientific tables and graphs. However, I realized that in the long run it would be much more useful! If you want a comprehensive overview of animal nutrition you really can't do better then ponds!

Vague text with bad illustrations and photos

Plane shaping: How to make a surfboard by Robin Morris is a low quality item. It is only 81 pages long and writen in large font so there is not too much indepth information on making a surfboard. The book is lacking in illustrations and has very low quality photography that makes it difficult to see what they are talking about. Even the photo on the front of the book is blurry. I've seen self published books that were better quality. I also believe that illustrations and photos are needed to help explain what Robin Morris is talking about because his written procedure is not straight forward. The text is most vague through the laminating secition of the book which I think is probably the most complicated part of making a surfboard. The design section in this book is also misleading and some of his design advice is debatable. This book has no information about epoxy or wood or any other alternative materials other then foam and fiberglass. The construction in this book is 1980's technology or '90s at the best. I know nothing about making surfboards and I've never read another book about surfboards construction. I did learn stuff from this book but be aware that it is a very basic book.

Great book that highlights all that's required to build a board.

Grateful for the damage repair section too. It came in handy when I needed to repair boards over the festive season.

This Book Will Open Your Eyes

For all those who believe that "we must have government," this book will convince you otherwise. The basis of government's power is the "justice system;" anyone who controls this can do virtually anything they want. Stevens shows how the "system" is a hoax and indeed, how all of government and politics is nothing but rule by violence. No, I don't mean that if "we" just vote in Party X or Candidate X, "government will be more responsive." Government, by its very nature, will never be free of corruption; in fact, governments must be corrupt. If you can't face this fact, you can't face reality. This is a book that no politician, bureaucrat or anyone who derives their power from the political system will even address.

The bottom line is this: governments make their money by violence or threat thereof; they admit that they're not obligated or have no duty to do anything for you or anyone in return for this money. Why does anyone tolerate this?

After reading this book, you will never be able to think of Judges, Police Officers or lawyers in the same way again. Mr. Stevens masterfully illustrates the fraud that continues to be perpetrated upon the unsuspecting American public. I highly recommend this monumental work.

A must read!

I did not give this book five stars as the writing style seemed quite repetitive and one wonders whether the author could have been a touch more pragmatic, but none of that should efface the fact that he brings to the fore many points that bear pondering. As a non-Statist, the man is in line with the thinking of Lysander Spooner and Andrew Galambos both of whom are referenced in the book. Even if one thinks that the man is a trouble maker, it is the trouble makers that help secure our freedoms. This book is highly recommended in spite of its flaws.

Examples of code/space include airport check-in areas, networked offices, and cafés that are transformed into workspaces by laptops and wireless access. Kitchin and Dodge argue that software, through its ability to do work in the world, transduces space. Then Kitchin and Dodge develop a set of conceptual tools for identifying and understanding the interrelationship of software, space, and everyday life, and illustrate their arguments with rich empirical material. And, finally, they issue a manifesto, calling for critical scholarship into the production and workings of code rather than simply the technologies it enables -- a new kind of social science focused on explaining the social, economic, and spatial contours of software.

A great interdisciplinary exploration of the role software plays in producing spatiality

I am an academic who studies various mobile technologies from a spatial perspective. Kitchin and Dodge's concept of "code/space" has now becomea key part of the theoretical framework I use in my work. Their book does an excellent drop drawing from concepts in human geoegraphy and software studies to show how software of various types is helping produce our space differently.

I think this is essential reading for anyone interested in the interrelationship between technology and physical space.
