a motley bunch

APOLOGIES NOT INCLUDED is told in alternating POV with four characters. Abigail is initially the focus, but then you get to know her three college-age friends. Sophia relies on a Tupperware of pills and is hung up on the wrong guy. Ethan is a brilliant student, but he smells and sees things that aren't there. David's foot fetishism gets him into a lot of trouble. Abigail herself is switching majors, is stressed out, and pops her pimples to the point that her face is a scabby mess. This is a motley bunch. The dark humor and political incorrectness found in Choi's first book are here, although this novel is less outlandish. This was a joy to read, although there were quite a few grammatical errors. Thankfully, the errors didn't pull me out of this crazy story too much.

Wonderfully Psychotic

Apologies Not Included sucks you into it's fast paced world the moment you read the first paragraph. Not only are the characters supremely flawed, but the insight into their minds sometimes reminds you of some of the heinous things you may think about other people. The story centers around four friends with a deep array of mental issues. In real life, it would make you cringe to know these people, yet from the way this book is written you find yourself sympathizing and obsessing over every move these college students make. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a laugh, something intriguing and engaging, or simply anything demented. Great read and I can't wait to read Angela Choi's next adventure into writing!

An emotional roller-coaster ride

This is a ride on the wild side, a madcap "Animal House" for the 21st Century, about the fates of four students who enter an elite Ivy League university but can't hack it, and who flake out in a variety of spectacular ways on drugs, junk food and their own narcissism. Choi's book manages to be hilarious and horrifying by turns. The low price had me skeptical, but I would have gladly shelled out the equivalent of a new trade paperback for this one. (Maybe even the equivalent of a hardcover.)
