Very important read on Animal Rights

Uncaged: Top Activists Share Their Wisdom on Effective Farm Animal Advocacy is a must read for everyone, animal lover or not. I was especially taken by the section written by Dr. Charlotte Laws, PhD. Laws brilliantly points out that there can never be true consideration for nonhuman animals under a democracy that is only run for people, which excludes all living beings, namely animals. In an Omniocracy, a term she coined, nonhuman animals are constituents therein their interests are considered. As an animal lover who's been involved in animal rescue for the past twenty-eight years, I am thrilled to read what this author has to say in favor of setting up a government that shines a light on animal abuse and advocates to stop it. She gives examples how each of us can make a difference, in practical doable ways. I highly recommend this book to read what she and others who have written here have to say for the betterment of living in harmony and the ending of suffering to our animal brethren.

This book is an absolutely precious tool for any animal rights activist who wishes to make a difference for animals. It provides us with excellent advices from the best activists in order for us to truly make a difference at our own scale, using the right arguments and understanding our audience.

Thought provoking and an impetus for everyday action

This book is exceptional, and a serious contribution to the public dialogue about factory farming. I found it to be an amazing and well written strategy course for being an effective change agent that an experienced advocate or newcomer can benefit from. The thoughtful and compelling series of essays at the back in particular really serve to assist in putting the rest of the content in perspective, and in a candid, straightforward way move a reader to look beyond their peripheral vision. I especially appreciated being challenged by these closing essays to think outside the box in questioning some easy to make assumptions; and the sections on practical strategies and resources are a great help indeed.

This really will work!

I have done hypnotic regression with a certified Life Between Life Therapist twice. It was expensive but worth it. It was a life changing experience. I read through the hypnotic suggestions scripts in this book and found that they work even just reading the script with the intention of experiencing self hypnosis. I would not have recognized the authenticity of the experience however, had I not had previous experience with past life regression. This is not like watching a movie of your past life, you get impressions and pictures in your mind in the same way you read a book and imagine from the worded descriptions -what the author is trying to communicate. This would allow you to collect memories of many past lives and with time perhaps improve your ability to achieve clearer sharper identification of what you are experiencing.

It seemed like a rather cumbersome task

I had intentions to do this regression on myself, but due to the logistics I never got around to it. The instructions are to record yourself reading the script (being the facilitator). Go into the regression while recording yourself (being the client) and at the same time, be able to stop the facilitator's voice when necessary so the client has plenty of time to reveal what is being seen. It seemed like a rather cumbersome task, so I never completed it. However, due to this book and "My Past Lives and Life Plan" by the same author definitely inspired me. I am currently taking classes to become NPL certified. Thanks Dr. Schwimmer!

it was the first m/m/m book I ever read and its was a good over all story. Josh has issues with fallen for the wrong guys, but he had to over come his fears to be with the men that he wanted but he was struggling to be himself but have to overcome is pass to help his future. Looking forward on reading more.

Dennis R. Okerstrom is Professor of English at Park University, a certified flight instructor, and the author of four previous books including The Final Mission of Bottoms Up: A World War II Pilot’s Story (University of Missouri Press). He owns and flies a restored 1942 Army scout plane and is the recipient of numerous awards for scholarship and teaching. He lives in Independence, Missouri.

A solid 4 star rating for me. What sets this book apart from others is that this real-life story reads like a novel and draws the reader in with its well written and descriptive narratives. The story is not a complete history of the 1st Air Commandos, but is more specific to the March 5/6 1944 glider assault of "Operation Thursday" which does take the reader about 3/4 of the book to get there. Where this book truly excels is in all of its background and biographical material on the key personnel who molded the commando group into a cohesive, functional, and specialized unit; Brig. Gen. Orde Wingate, Col. Philip Cochran, Col. John Alison, and the men they selected to head the organizational sections within the commando group. The writer takes the reader through the groups inception, development, training, overseas movement, and operational employment of the commando force. First person experiences from veterans who were with the group are weaved within the story. The saga of the group winds down following "Operation Thursday" with the tragic death of Gen. Wingate at the end of March, the recall of Col. Alison to the states in early April, and Cochran in May. The book does not get too bogged down in technical details about gliders or aircraft, but offers enough so you fully understand each. The story flows and I didn't find it balky to read as some are when they bounce around trying to cover every detail. The hardcover book is 300 pages, has 23 chapters with footnotes, 24 pages of B&W pictures placed in the middle of the book, and a well put together listing of supporting references the author drew upon in creating his publication. This book compliments, Any Place, Any Time, Any Where by R. D. Van Wagner and Back To Mandalay by Lowell Thomas.

Embarrassed to be reading it so late in life

After having raised my own children passed the age of six or seven I now find myself with time on my hands, some thoughts in my head, and a room of my own to do it in. I shall endeavor not to waste the luxury handed me. Written in 1928, Wolf's observations on life and literature remain timely and appropriate. Her tone is hilariously sarcastic and dry. She sounded in my head like the Lady Mary of Downton. I recommend this book to writers, scholars, and feminists seeking to broaden their familiarity with the classics of the field.

Virginia Woolf is my favorite author. Her prose is divine and what comes out of her mind is startling, even in the 21st century. This particular book is a touchstone for women writers. Actually, crossing feminist lines (as we all should), it's a touchstone for writers of either gender.

One of the best books I read in 2016.

She should be one of the most humorous women in Britain at her time. It was supposed to be a speech. Putting a lot of discursive aside, her speech started with Women and Fiction and what she had experienced and what had inspired her about the topic she supposedly gave speech to Newham Girls College. Here main theme, "numerous generations of unsung unnoticed unjusted women paved the way for what women at her era could attain was remarkable, and the girls should fight and stand on their corpses' and souls' behalf", was so strong and so well versed.
